Dear Friends:
It's a challenging time for Search and Care to be asking you to consider contributing to our work.
Last year we served a record 539 at-risk elders, expanded care staff in Yorkville, Carnegie Hill and East Harlem, added additional evening and Saturday hours, augmented programming and services (financial, nursing, occupational therapy, mental health, therapeutic groups), and participated in an important study with Weill Cornell Medical College on self-neglect in elders. Most importantly, we provided a genuine "lifeline" for so many!
Without a Search and Care, our elders would be at-risk of losing their cherished independence. Many are homebound, isolated, lonely, living on fixed or low incomes, and have few, if any, nearby family or supports. After living a lifetime in their familiar home and community, the prospect of having to relocate to a nursing home or assisted living setting is more alarming than words can express.
Our approach, for 38 years, is simple: seek out older people in the community who need help managing life's daily activities or accessing essential services and provide them with the support and companionship they require to live with security and dignity in the manner they choose.
Now we turn to you, a prospective partner in caring. Your contribution, in an uncertain year, can make all the difference for the 600+ elders we anticipate helping in the year ahead. We ask you for your kindness and support, and thank you for considering Search and Care for your charitable giving.
Sincerely,
